My name is Greg Kwiat, and I want to help you learn everything you need to know to buy a diamond. I’d like to introduce you to the Kwiat Radiant, the most exceptional radiant-cut diamond in the world. Let’s explore what makes the Kwiat Radiant extraordinary and how we have perfected the art of cutting this classic shape. Radiant cut diamonds are rectangular in shape with cut corners similar to the emerald cut, but different from the emerald cut, they’re faceted with a brilliant cut pattern, which gives the diamond a much greater brilliance and sparkle. Radiant diamonds are perfect for those who love the rectangular shape and want the more traditional brilliance they see and expect in a diamond. When worn in a ring, the rectangular shape can seem to elongate the finger and will often look larger than other shapes. Radiants are one of the newer diamond shapes in the market, originally developed in New York City in the late 1970s. The popularity of the cut has steadily grown over time and continues to have a strong appeal to the modern jewelry lover. With over 100 years With the diamond cutting skill and experience, we have created the Kwiat Radiant, perfectly cut and extraordinarily bright. The Kwiat Radiant is the ideal rectangular shape, not too long and not too short. It has distinctive and elegant cut corners. It is perfectly cut and faceted with excellent polish and excellent symmetry, a rarity in stones of this shape. The Kwiat Radiant has a unique faceting pattern, combining both the Brilliant Cut and Step Cut techniques to give the diamond a true brilliance and maximum sparkle. And because of the precision of this faceting, the Kwiat Radiant is pure brightness and fire throughout the stone, with no bow tie effect, windowing or dark spots, and a size appearance that is larger for its carat weight. To truly understand why the Kwiat that radiant is so exceptional, it helps to compare it to lesser quality radiants that other jewelers cut and sell. There are two primary problems when it comes to subpar radiant cuts. The first is that the shape of many radiants are too short. The second issue is that the a faceting pattern is often poorly done, leading to a bow-tie effect, darkness, or a general lack of proper brilliance. Let’s start with the shape of the diamond itself. The most attractive radiant diamond will be beautifully elongated and properly proportioned. When speaking about the shape of a radiant-cut diamond, we refer to the length to width ratio, which is calculated by dividing the millimeter length of the diamond by its millimeter width. The majority of the radiant-cut diamonds in the market range from square to stubby and are simply less attractive. Length to width ratios under 1.2 typically indicate a stone that is shorter than the ideal shape. The closer the ratio gets to 1.0, the closer the diamond is to a square shape. Square and stubby shapes typically carry excess weight on the underside of the diamond, where it does not add to the visual size appearance, causing it to appear smaller. It’s also important that the corners of the radiant be elegant and properly cut. Radiants without proper corners end up looking more like princess cuts. Dimonds that are outside of the ideal shape range typically sell at discounted prices. By comparison, Kwiat Radiants are always cut to the perfect rectangular shape in very strict length to width range, never too short. And because of this, they always have a larger size appearance for their carat weight. Another major difference between radiant-cut diamonds is the quality of the cut. In diamonds, cut is all about the angles, proportions, and facets. And as with all shapes, the cut quality of a radiant-cut diamond is the critical element that will determine its beauty. When a radiant is well-cut, the diamond will be bright throughout the entire stone and exhibit a great degree of fire and scintillation. Most radiant diamonds in the market are faceted in a very unattractive way, mainly with the goal of saving weight in the cutting process or an attempt to compensate for a general lack of brilliance. Badly-cut radiants typically look small for their size, and they fail to return the maximum light to the eye, leading to a dull or lifeless or windowy appearance. The Kwiat Radiant is perfectly cut with excellent polish and excellent symmetry, and the result is pure brightness and fire throughout the entire diamond, and a diamond that looks larger for its carat weight. At Kwiat, all of our diamonds are cut to our rigorous technical and quality standards. With more than 100 years of diamond cutting experience, we make certain that every diamond in every shape is cut to be the most beautiful that it can be. The Kwiat Radiant is the most beautiful and perfectly-cut radiant diamond in the world.
